This signing marks Uzi’s return following his retirement from professional League of Legends back in 2020 when he stopped playing due to health concerns. Uzi experienced various injuries throughout the years, including his arms, shoulders, and legs. Those accumulated issues prevented him from having a consistent level of play and forced him to take regular breaks from the game.

Nonetheless, Uzi continued his LoL career as a streamer in his one year and a half of absence. In the meanwhile, Uzi launched a Wild Rift esports team last summer, around the same moment he made the decision to return to competitive. The only big doubt was which organization was willing to pick him up. This is when BLG stepped in.

Together with Uzi, the organization revealed earlier today on Weibo its four new players. Top laner Chen “Breathe” Chen, mid laner Chu “FoFo” Chun-Lan, rookie bot laner Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan, and support Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song will be playing for BLG in 2022. Jungler Wei “Weiwei” Bo-Han’s, the only player remaining from BLG 2021’s roster, extended his contract for one more year.

Uzi started his professional career back in 2012 when he joined Royal Never Give Up. Throughout the years, the young ADC player became the core of the team, carrying RNG several times during crucial moments. He and his team were one of the few competitors that could take the fight to Korean teams during their golden age, reaching the Finals in both 2013 (against SKT T1) and 2014 (against Samsung White). RNG and Uzi’s most recent success was at MSI 2018 when they beat Kingzone DragonX 3-1.

With Uzi joining in, Bilibili Gaming is looking to reach higher heights in the 2022 LPL Spring Split. Hiring veteran players like FoFo, Crisp and Breathe further increases their potential compared to 2021. Last year, BLG ended seventh in the 2021 LPL Summer Split, losing 3-0 to Team WE in the Summer Playoffs.
